Kalahari - July 2000
We set off to the Richtersveld for the first time. Of course we needed a little excursion on the way so went to the Kalagadi Transfrontier Park and then The Namaqua 4x4 route on the way. Since then we have traveled these areas a few times and looking through the pictures we can remember exactly where many were taken. Naturally a lot of the time we are alone. We have never been afraid of setting off into the unknown on our own.
The Richtersveld can support thousands of aggravating flies at some times of the year but on this occasion we were not pestered by them. We now adorn our heads with nets when the flies become a pest and we walk around looking like weird brides in veils.
On this trip the half-mens was in bud.
At Kokerboom Woud there were tiny fishes in some of the pools which were located far from the river. We guessed that perhaps eggs had been carried by the birds on their feet and legs. Another theory is that they are not fishes but frog tadpoles. To me they certainly looked like small fishes.
